Data we collect
None. FieldNote does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. We have no servers and no analytics. We cannot see your inspections, your audio, your photos, or your reports.
How your information is processed
- Voice recordings are captured on your iPhone and used only to generate a transcript on-device. They are stored locally and never uploaded.
- Transcription and report drafting run entirely on-device using Apple’s on-device speech and (where available) on-device language model. No text is sent to any external service.
- Photos you attach are stored on your device; location (EXIF GPS) metadata is removed when photos are saved into a report.
- Reports and your business profile (your name, company, license number, country & region) are stored locally on your device so they can appear on your branded PDFs.
Permissions
- Microphone — to record your spoken inspection notes locally.
- Speech Recognition — to transcribe that audio on-device.
- Photos — only when you choose to attach an image to a report.
These permissions are used solely for on-device functionality. Denying them only limits the related feature.
Subscriptions
FieldNote Pro is an auto-renewable subscription processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Purchase and subscription data are handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Data sharing & third parties
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. No data is shared with anyone because no data leaves your device.
Data retention & deletion
Your data lives on your device under your control. Deleting a report removes it from the app; deleting the app removes all FieldNote data from your device.
Children
FieldNote is a professional tool intended for adult inspectors and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and revise the date above.
