Terms of use
Last updated 17 September 2026. By downloading or using RoamGuard (“the app”) you agree to these terms.
1. Licence
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
2. What the app does, and its limits
RoamGuard estimates mobile data usage by reading the operating system's network interface byte counters.
These estimates are not a bill. Your carrier's own figure is the one that gets charged, and it is the authoritative one.
You acknowledge and accept that:
- iOS provides no API that reports actual plan usage, so the app's figures are an independent measurement rather than your carrier's accounting.
- Measurement begins when the app takes its first reading, which may be partway through your billing cycle.
- iOS provides no API that reports roaming status. Whether traffic is counted as home or roaming comes from your own setting, or from an estimate based on your device's region.
- Your carrier's accounting may differ: some traffic may be zero-rated, rounded differently, batched, or measured at a different point in the network.
- Data used by devices connected to your Personal Hotspot is included, because your phone carries it.
- iOS controls when apps may run in the background, so measurement intervals may be long and the record of which network was active during them may be incomplete.
- Traffic carried between the app's last reading and a device restart, or between the last reading and a cellular context being torn down, cannot be recovered.
The developer is not liable for any charges, overage fees, throttling or disconnection arising from reliance on the app's figures. Always treat your carrier's own figure as authoritative.
3. No warranty
The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue or profits, arising out of your use of the app.
5. Privacy
The app collects no personal data, has no account and makes no network requests of its own. See the privacy policy for the detail.
6. Changes
These terms may be updated with new releases. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is established, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
