These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and the developer of Scanlio ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing or using Scanlio (the "App"), you agree to these Terms and to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Scanlio on Apple devices you own or control, for your personal or internal business use, subject to these Terms, the EULA and the App Store Terms of Service. We retain all rights, title and interest in the App, including all intellectual property.
You retain all rights to the documents, images and text you process with the App ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership over Your Content. You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights and permissions to scan, store, edit and share Your Content, and that doing so does not violate any law or third-party right.
You agree not to use Scanlio to: (a) create, alter, forge or falsify identity documents, passports, currency, official records or any document with intent to deceive or defraud; (b) infringe intellectual-property, privacy or other rights; (c) process content you are not authorized to use; or (d) violate any applicable law or regulation. You are solely responsible for Your Content and how you use it.
Scanlio is a document-scanning, editing and conversion tool. It does not provide legal, tax, financial, medical or other professional advice, and its output is not a substitute for professional judgment. Always have important documents reviewed by a qualified professional.
Text recognition (OCR), edge detection, conversion (e.g. PDF→Word) and other processing are best-effort and may contain errors or omissions. Always review and verify important documents before relying on, submitting or sharing them. Keep your own backups of important files; we are not responsible for lost or corrupted data.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (b) USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the App, or your breach of these Terms or any law or third-party right.
Your documents are processed on your device. Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. The free version shows ads via Google AdMob; the App does not track you across other apps or websites.
The App may use third-party services (e.g. Google AdMob in the free version, and Apple's App Store and StoreKit for purchases). Your use of those services is also subject to their respective terms.
These Terms apply until terminated. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach them. You may stop using the App at any time. Sections 3–8 and 12 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Geneva, Switzerland have exclusive jurisdiction, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise. Nothing here limits non-waivable statutory consumer rights.
Scanlio is rated 4+ but is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. If you are a minor, use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
We may update these Terms; we will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, the EULA and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.
