Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the things travelers ask most.
How does flight tracking work? +
Enter a flight number (for example LX318) or scan your boarding pass, and SKYGATE looks up the flight's schedule, gate, and status. Status updates — gate changes, delays, and cancellations — are refreshed automatically, and the live map shows the aircraft's current position when it's airborne.
You can pin a flight to your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island with Live Activities so the countdown and gate stay visible without opening the app. No account is needed; tracking works from first launch.
Important: flight data comes from third-party providers and can occasionally be delayed or inaccurate, and alerts depend on your device and network. Always confirm your gate, terminal, and times with your airline and the airport before travelling — SKYGATE is a convenience, not a replacement for the airline's official information.
Why isn't my flight found? +
A flight may not appear for a few reasons:
- The flight number was mistyped — double-check the airline code and number (e.g. BA + 456).
- The flight is too far in the future or already in the past — schedule data is most reliable around the day of travel.
- The flight is operated under a different (codeshare) number — try the operating carrier's number shown on your boarding pass.
- The flight-data provider hasn't published the schedule yet, or the route is a charter/regional flight with limited coverage.
If a flight you're sure about still won't load, email us the flight number and date and we'll investigate.
How does AI Rescue work? +
If your flight is delayed, cancelled, or you're denied boarding, AI Rescue estimates the compensation you may be entitled to under EU261, UK261, and US DOT rules based on the disruption details, then helps you draft a complaint email to the airline.
You have two options for drafting: bring your own AI key for a tailored letter (in which case the flight metadata is sent to the AI provider to generate the text), or use the built-in local template so nothing leaves your device. Either way, the compensation figure is a non-binding estimate, not legal advice, and may be wrong if the underlying flight data is incomplete. SKYGATE does not guarantee any payout, does not submit or pursue the claim for you, and is not a law firm — you review and send the email yourself, and the airline, regulator, or court makes the final determination. See our Terms for details.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
SKYGATE Premium is billed through your Apple ID, so you manage or cancel it in iOS Settings — not inside the app:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Select SKYGATE.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or change your plan).
To avoid being charged for the next period — including after the 3-day free trial — cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current period ends. You'll keep Premium access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Refund requests are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Is my data private? +
Yes. SKYGATE requires no account, contains no ads or tracking SDKs, and processes boarding-pass scanning and delay prediction on your device. Your location, if enabled, is used only locally to estimate your time to the gate. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
What do I get for free vs. Premium? +
The free tier lets you track up to 3 flights with real-time gate and status, live map, and Lock Screen widgets. Premium ($2.99/mo or $19.99/yr, with a 3-day free trial) unlocks unlimited flight tracking plus Live Activities, AI Rescue, on-device delay prediction, and SkyGroup shared boards.
