Privacy Policy

Overview

CallScribe AI ("CallScribe", "we", "us") is built to be private by design. It is available for iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play). On both, recording, transcription, and AI summaries are processed on your device. Your recordings and transcripts never leave your device. We do not operate servers that receive your content, we do not require an account, and we do not collect your personal data. The sections below describe the iPhone app; the Android app differs in a few places (Google Play billing and a Google ML Kit component that sends Google limited diagnostics), explained in CallScribe for Android. This policy explains what that means in plain language.

Information We Collect

We collect no personal information. CallScribe does not ask you to create an account, does not request your name or email to use the app, and does not transmit your recordings, transcripts, summaries, action items, or any related content to us or any third party.

  • Recordings and transcripts are created and stored only on your iPhone.
  • If you have enabled Apple's device backup, your recordings may be included in your own iCloud backup. That backup is controlled entirely by you and Apple under your iCloud settings; we have no access to it.
  • We do not maintain a copy of your content. If you delete the app, the on-device content is removed with it.

Microphone & Speech Recognition

CallScribe needs access to your microphone to record speakerphone calls and in-person meetings. It uses on-device speech recognition to convert that audio into text. This processing happens locally on your iPhone. We request microphone permission only for recording you initiate, and you can revoke it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

On-Device AI — No Third-Party AI Service

CallScribe's AI features (the TL;DR summary, action items, and key topics) are generated entirely on your device using Apple's built-in on-device intelligence (the Apple Speech and Foundation Models frameworks) together with a local, offline text-analysis engine. CallScribe does not send your audio, transcripts, or any other personal data to OpenAI, ChatGPT, Google, Anthropic, or any other third-party or cloud-based AI service. No content is transmitted off your device for AI processing, and there is no remote AI server involved at any point. Because everything runs locally, the AI features work fully offline.

No Analytics, No Tracking, No Third-Party Sharing

CallScribe contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no tracking. We do not build profiles, we do not use cookies or device identifiers for tracking, and we do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties — because we don't collect it in the first place.

Subscriptions & Payments

CallScribe Pro subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store and your Apple ID. We never see or store your payment details. Apple processes the transaction and provides us only with anonymous purchase status needed to unlock features. Apple's handling of your payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

CallScribe for Android

The Android app follows the same principle — your content stays on your device — but it uses Android and Google Play components instead of Apple's. Where this section differs from the sections above, this section applies to the Android app.

  • Storage and backup. Recordings, transcripts, summaries and translations are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. They are excluded from Android cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, so uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes them.
  • Microphone. CallScribe records from the microphone only after you tap Record. While a recording runs, Android shows a persistent notification with the elapsed time and a Stop & Save button. The Android app does not record phone calls and does not access your call log, contacts or SMS.
  • Transcription. Speech is converted to text with your device's on-device speech recognition. If the language pack is missing, the app offers Android's own download; it never falls back to a cloud recognizer.
  • Summaries and questions. Generated on the device with Gemini Nano through Google AICore (where your phone supports it) or with CallScribe's built-in offline engine. Your audio and text are not sent to us or to a cloud AI service.
  • Translation. Summaries are translated with Android's on-device translation service, where your device provides one.
  • Calendar (optional). If you allow calendar access, CallScribe reads the title of your current event on the device to name a recording. It is never transmitted.
  • Google ML Kit diagnostics. The on-device AI uses Google ML Kit, which sends Google limited diagnostic and usage information — such as device model and OS version, app package and version, a per-installation identifier, performance metrics, API configuration and the configured language — to maintain and improve ML Kit. It does not include your audio, transcripts or summaries. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure. Because of this component, the "no analytics SDKs" statement above applies to the iPhone app only.
  • Purchases. CallScribe Pro subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are processed by Google Play. We never see your payment details; Google Play tells the app only whether you own Pro. Google's handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Ratings prompts use the Google Play In-App Review API.
  • Exports. Files and text you share go only to the app you choose in the Android share sheet.
  • No ads, no tracking. The Android app contains no ads, does not use the advertising ID, and has no account or server of ours.

Data Retention & Deletion

Because your content lives on your device, you control retention. Recordings and transcripts remain on your device until you delete them. You can delete an individual recording inside the app at any time, or remove everything by uninstalling CallScribe. If your recordings are part of an iCloud backup, manage them through your iCloud settings. On Android they are never included in a backup.

Children's Privacy

CallScribe is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app collects no personal data from any user, no such information is gathered by us.

Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights over your personal data, including access, correction, and deletion. Because CallScribe does not collect or hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, export, or erase on your behalf — your content stays under your control on your device. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated version on this page. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
