How do I record a call?
Put the call on speakerphone, open CallScribe AI, and tap the record button. The app captures both sides through your iPhone's microphone. You can also record in-person meetings the same way. When you stop, CallScribe transcribes and summarizes the recording right on your device.
Why do I need speakerphone?
iOS does not allow third-party apps to tap into the cellular voice line, so no third-party app can record the call audio directly. CallScribe records through the microphone instead — putting the call on speakerphone lets the mic pick up both you and the other person clearly.
Is my data private? Where is it stored?
Your data stays on your iPhone. Recording, transcription, and AI summaries all run 100% on-device. Recordings and transcripts never leave your device — there are no cloud uploads, no accounts, and no data collection. Your recordings are stored locally on your iPhone (and, if you choose, in your own iCloud device backup, which is controlled by Apple and your settings). Add a Face ID lock to keep your library private.
What languages are supported?
CallScribe transcribes in 34 languages, with automatic language detection so you usually don't need to set anything. Transcription accuracy varies by language, audio quality, and accent.
How does the free trial and subscription work?
CallScribe Pro is available as a Weekly plan at $9.99 (with a 3-day free trial), an Annual plan at $59.99 (with a 3-day free trial — our best value), or a one-time Lifetime purchase at $99.99. With the trial plans, you won't be charged until the 3-day trial ends. Subscriptions are billed to your Apple ID and auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select CallScribe AI, and tap Cancel. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your current period (or trial) ends. The Lifetime purchase is one-time and has nothing to cancel.
How do I restore purchases?
If you reinstall the app or get a new iPhone, open CallScribe AI, go to the paywall or settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase. Apple will restore your active subscription or Lifetime purchase.
How accurate is transcription?
On-device transcription is very good in clear conditions, but it isn't perfect. Accuracy depends on audio quality, background noise, accents, overlapping speakers, and the language. AI summaries and action items are generated automatically and may occasionally be incomplete or incorrect, so review important details against the audio.
Is call recording legal?
Call-recording and consent laws vary by country, state, and region. Some places require all parties to consent before a call is recorded. You are responsible for understanding and complying with the laws that apply to you and for obtaining any required consent. CallScribe is a tool; how you use it is up to you.
How do I export a transcript?
Open the recording in your library, tap the share or export button, and choose where to send the transcript. You can share it through the standard iOS share sheet — to Messages, Mail, Notes, or any compatible app.
