What "free" really covers in Scanlio
Some apps let you scan for free and then refuse to save or export until you pay, which makes the free tier a demo. Scanlio's approach, as described in its 1.0.17 release notes, is that every tool shares one free allowance and saving is never blocked. You can build a library of scans, keep them on your device, and share them. The Pro features (unlimited OCR, the full editor, signatures, conversions and unlimited exports) are where the allowance applies, and Pro removes it.
How to check for a trial before you pay
The Scanlio purchase screen leads with the plans and shows whether a free trial is attached to the one you pick. Apple also prints the trial length and the renewal price on the confirmation sheet before you approve with Face ID. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. The Lifetime purchase has no renewal, so there is nothing to cancel; if you ever reinstall, use Settings then Restore Purchases in Scanlio to bring it back.
What happens to your files if you stop paying
Nothing happens to them. Scanlio never uploaded your documents to a server, so there is no account to lapse and no cloud folder to lose access to. Your PDFs stay in the app on your device and in your own iCloud or device backups. You simply return to the free allowance for Pro features, and saving is never blocked.
